Whimsical beaded red hat made by a women's cooperative in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala. The hats are to honor women of the Red Hat Society which is a social organization founded in 1998 for women approaching the age of 50 and beyond. These women have made a pact to greet middle age with humor, independence, and elegance. As their motto goes:
When I am an old woman I shall wear purple With a red hat that doesn't go and doesn't suit me.
