This unique box was made by an innovative carver in Nahuala, Guatemala.  He has made this functional box in the shape of a house.  When you open the roof you see a platform representing a bed with a pregnant woman lying upon it.  Next to her, is a figure kneeling, presumably praying.  They are both dressed in the traditional Mayan dress of the village of Nahuala.  The figures are movable.  Also, front door opens.  A rather large box and very unusual piece of folk art.

18 1/2" long x 9" wide and 7" deep.
