The shaman giving a blessing to the snake which is believed to act as an intermediary between humans and the spirit world.  They instruct shamans to become healers.  Rattlesnakes are particularly esteemed, as their rattles are believed to be the tongue of the greatest shaman, the Fire God.   Each artist has an explanation on the back of the piece explaining the picture.
