Corte - Colotenango, Guatemala

Wonderful 1990's corte woven on a back-stap loom in 2 panels.  Colotenango is one of the few villages where skirts are back-stap woven and of those, the Colotenango skirt is the most elaborate.  The designs in this piece include geometric shapes and animals and birds.  Because of the age of this piece there is some fading and some loose threads and a bit of wear on some of the brocade but otherwise this is a beautifully executed older piece.
