Newer huipil from Santa Catarin Palopo which is a small village on Lake Atitlan.  The women there wear these beautiful huipiles with rich blues, purples, and greens which, I have been told, represent the naturaleza around them.  This huipil was woven on a back-strap loom in 3 panels.  The base cloth is a rich purple with birds and geometric designs woven throughout.  Cotton and rayon embroidery threads have been used.  Blue rayon embroidery floss has been used around the neck and arms.  This is a delightful piece.
