CHAJUL,  Guatemala

47" x 34" wide

1990's Huipil from Chajul, one of the 3 villages in the Ixil Triangle.  Huipiles from Chajul are characterized by their usually whimsical animals or birds.  Here, the double-headed eagle is represented.  The green base cloth was woven on a back-strap loom in 2 panels.  Very nice piece with nice shoulder design.
