Faja from Chichicastenango, Guatemala

This faja or hand-woven belt was woven on a back-strap loom and then the animals were embroidered on top of the base cloth.  
This is a new faja with vibrant  colors.  The woman tucks her huipil into her corte and then ties it all together with the faja which is wrapped several times around her waist.
