Picture: left from
Maya of Guatemala, Life and
Dress by Carmen
Peterson. "These three
people,... are about to
return to their duties
within the church. They are
dressed in full ceremonial
robes. The man takes back
the silver monstrance to
replace it on the altar
after carrying it in
procession. He does not
touch it but holds it with a
special ceremonial cloth;
likewise the woman with the
candles for the altar.
During their year of duty
with the Confraternity the
work in their fields and
houses will be done for them
by others of the community."
